7:40am:  Guest Speaker and Royal City Rotary Member Lizz Kelly did her classification speech. Lizz was born in Winnipeg. She has 4 sisters. Her mother volunteered always when Lizz was young, and she still volunteers at her church. Lizz grew up baking with her mom. She loved baking so much that she became a pastry chef. Lizz' dad was the CEO of a tool importing company that imported tools from Asia. Lizz' family sponsored a Japanese woman who became their 5th sister. Her dad passed away 9 years ago. Lizz moved to Vancouver when she was 9. She went to Burnaby Central Highschool. After highschool, Lizz moved to Whistler. In Whistler, Lizz worked many jobs: waiting tables, working at a jewellery store. Lizz opened her own successful wedding and event planning company. Her company became the first gay wedding planning company in Canada when gay marriage was legalised. Her event planning expertise allowed Lizz to be an event planner during the 2010 winter Olympics. Lizz also helped organise the first Pemberton festival. Lizz is now the CEO of the New Westminster Chamber of Commerce. Lizz has two children: a 22 year old daughter and a 21 year old son who is on the Canadian Olympic ski mogul team. She loves to read and garden on the time she has off whenever that is.
