From Kathy -

Hello Everyone!  Many of us are wondering what our Rotary Clubs are doing for Fund Raisers, and specifically “To the Heart of the Matter” 2021.  Wendy Scott has agreed to be the Chair Person again for 2021 and today, Wendy, Alana and I met to have an initial discussion on how to proceed.  In no particular order, the following was discussed:

  • Several of us are aware of the recent on line auction the Coquitlam Rotary Clubs successfully completed.  Kyle O’Genski (Ron’s son) was heavily involved and is happy to discuss further with our Clubs.  Ryan McBride a new member of the Burnaby Club, is happy to get involved and has been in discussion with Kyle.
  • Kathy will reach out directly to Kyle to see if he will share how much they raised in the silent auction and in the 50/50 draw.  Also about their sponsorship package/rates.
  • Wendy is proposing that we have a “Goggle Hang Out Meeting” which she will organize for our first HOM meeting.  PLEASE REPLY TO ALL IF WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 9TH@ 9:00 AM WOULD WORK FOR YOU.
  • Alana is proposing for the Royal City Rotary Club, our portion of funds raised this year will be used for local projects.  Future years, we would re-consider international and local projects.
  • Tentative dates for the online auction could be February 13 – 27, 2021.
  • Invite Kyle to one of our Wednesday night Zoom Rotary meetings to further share his findings with our Club members and anyone from the Burnaby Rotary Club and Lorrie could join in on the call.
  • Auction software is clickbidonline.com - $795.00 is the base price, plus a couple of add on’s would likely take the price to $2,000 USD.

Thoughts, comments are appreciated.

Greeters This Week and Next Two

Greeters This Week and the Next Two

Lets all join in and greet each other

Greeter Duties

Greeters are the first point of contact for guests, potential new members, and our members. Making all who attend our meeting feel welcome is the responsibility of all of us as we all take turns being greeters. All greeters should arrive no later than 6:40 am and be prepared to assist in setting up and preparing for the meeting. If a greeter cannot be present for their day of duties, please contact another member to fill in for you. Greeters will:

  • ensure that the sandwich board at the entrance.

  • ensure that flags and banners are in place.

  • welcome all members and guests and make them comfortable with the proceedings and surroundings, i.e., seating, coffee, schedule of meeting etc.

  • greet and sit with the speaker to gather information useful in providing a respectful and meaningful introduction of the speaker and the program.

  • thank the speaker and present the certificate of appreciation for their presentation. (Note: The certificate is NOT a contribution of $20.00 in the speakers’ name. We donate $20.00 to the Rotary Foundation in recognition of their presentation at the meeting.)

  • assist in taking down the flags, banners and place the sandwich board back in Kathy's office.
