The Hockey Pool fundraiser is now open, ready for distribution and selling.

Kathy MacKerricher will have some printed copies ready for distribution to members on Wednesday September 19, 2018. All members should have received an email on Tuesday September 18, 2018. Each Rotarian is to sell 10 hockey pools each. The prize money has been sponsored by a variety of businesses - THANK YOU!!

Every $20 pool sold will support our hot lunch program for students in need at the New Westminster Secondary School.

Once sold, the player selection page is returned, completed, to Kathy MacKerricher, with payment. Forms that are completed and paid for will be forwarded to Rick Janssen for input.

Many thanks again to our sponsors and everyone involved. Happy selling!

Foundation Dinner
Foundation Dinner Information
As we get closer to our Foundation Month - November, we are again planning the annual District Foundation Dinner/Gala for the Lower Mainland.
Date is Saturday November 17th and the venue is the Hilton near Metrotown in Burnaby.

I would like to ask for your assistance with this in a couple ways.

One is we need people who are interested in assisting with the planning to join the planning committee. Contact Lulu, one of the co-chairs, whose information is lower in this email.
As we all know these events take many hands working together to make them successful and this is a very important cause, raising funds for Our Foundation, The Rotary Foundation.
I would love to have Rotarians from the lower mainland clubs to once again come together to create a very special evening of celebrating all of the amazing things we, as Rotarians do, to make the world a better place. Our Foundation is the catalyst in our successes.

Lulu's contact information is:
778-822-8316

The second request is to promote this event and gather some of your club members up and attend together. Save the date! The committee will announce more information as it becomes available.

Good Host Program

Image

The Good Host program is how YOU can get involved - you are invited to help out by meeting, greeting and sharing cultural experiences with our Youth Exchange student. Leo Wolff (Germany) is here and deserve to see and experience Canada to the fullest.

Any one of us can be Good Hosts by simply sharing some time with Leo. A phone call, lunch, dinner with family, sporting event, cultural outing, almost anything goes. However - all who host our youth exchange student unsupervised - even for a day event - must have submitted their Criminal Checks online prior to hosting. Submit the report to Rick Molstad.

Please remember to include our youth exchange students in any activities you and your family participate in. Please speak to Leo directly or contact him at:

Greeter Duties

Greeters are the first point of contact for guests, potential new members, and our members. Making all who attend our meeting feel welcome is the responsibility of all of us as we all take turns being greeters.

1.       All greeters should arrive no later than 6:40 am and be prepared to assist in setting up and preparing for the meeting. If a greeter cannot be present for their day of duties, please contact another member to fill in for you.

2.       Greeter #1 will ensure that the sandwich board at the entrance

3.       Greeter #2 will ensure that flags and banners are in place.

4.       Greeters should welcome all members and guests and make them comfortable with the proceedings and surroundings, i.e., seating, coffee, schedule of meeting etc.

5.       Greeter #1 greets and sits with the speaker to gather information useful in providing a respectful and meaningful introduction of the speaker and the program.

6.       Greeter #2 thanks the speaker and presents the certificate of appreciation for their presentation.

NOTE: The certificate is NOT a contribution of $20.00 in the speakers’ name. We donate $20.00 to the Rotary Foundation in recognition of their presentation at the meeting.

7.       Greeter #3 assists in taking down the flags, banners and places the sandwich board back in Kathy's office.

·         Greeters may change duties amongst themselves if desired.
